We actively encourage parents to participate and look forward to developing a partnership with you while your child is at Dragonflies Day Nursery
You are the first and most important teacher of your child. You know more about their development, relationships, strengths and difficulties than anyone does, so we actively encourage all parents to work in partnership with us to provide the best possible opportunities for your child.
How can parents be involved in their child’s learning?
Telling us about your child
We want to learn about your child so we will ask you to complete the “All About Me” booklet which forms the first part of planning for your child’s learning and development.
Recording your child’s progress
You will obviously want to know how your child is getting on at nursery. The staff are always willing to answer any individual questions you may have as they arise on a daily basis, but we also hold regular parent weeks throughout the year where you can come along to the nursery and chat in more depth to your child’s Key Person.
We keep records of each child’s progress electronically, covering all seven areas of the curriculum: social and emotional skills, physical development, language development, maths, understanding the world and creative development, but we believe it is equally important to celebrate each child’s achievements at home. We rely on you to let us know of anything special your child has done out of nursery.
Many Reception teachers find these records very helpful when the children transfer into school
