“The babies in the Rosy Chicks Room enjoy a small group atmosphere of warmth, safety and care.”
This is our very special room for our youngest children. Here the children enjoy a small group atmosphere of warmth, safety and care. They are supported and encouraged to develop at their own pace. Their day is suited to their particular needs, and we work carefully with parents to ensure that this continues as they change and develop.
Young children begin to explore the world through their senses. The activities within these rooms are sensitively planned to meet their changing needs as they grow and develop. Through lots of play we encourage the children to explore the world of colour, shape and texture and to help in their first steps towards language development. All of the rooms are bright and cheerful which, along with a large selection of toys, provides a stimulating, colourful but calming environment. Great effort is put into the choice of toys to encourage every child’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.

As with all age groups, you as the parent, will be given daily updates as to your baby’s day and regularly be invited into the nursery discuss the development of your baby with his/her key carer.
Our youngest children benefit from a wide range of daily activities, socialising with other children their own age and familiar adults. The rooms are bright and welcoming with plenty of space for play, to kick and stretch and when the time comes….learn to walk.
The bedroom is a lovely, quiet and cosy place for the children to rest, as we recognise how important sleep is to a young child’s development.
We operate a maximum of 1:3 adult to child ratio in the Rosy Chick’s Room to ensure every one of our children receives the attention, love and care they deserve.

The children in these rooms enjoy a range of stimulating activities which include:
- Singing and music sessions – every day – where they can begin to join in action rhymes and play along to songs with percussion instruments. These are led by a music specialist who helps staff to plan activities particularly suited to this age group.
- Exploring different textures which is often rather messy – for example ice cubes, jelly and cornflour goo!
- Sensory play in their dedicated sensory area – full of mirrors and stimulating objects that sparkle and glitter
- Quiet times – where they can begin to enjoy stories and books and spend time with adults individually
- Regular walks to the park and nearby library
The Rosy Chicks Rooms are located on the first floor and are for babies from 6 weeks to approximately 18 months, moving in line with their individual needs and development pace. We believe young children need rooms specific to their own age group to play and develop in safety with toys suitable to their age.
Our emphasis is on love, play and care to provide a home from home with continuity of staff being of great importance to us.
